Above and Beyond Dance is proud to introduce Seeking, an evening of choreography designed to push the boundaries of dance by blending modern and ballroom dance techniques with circus arts. Seeking brings together a diverse group of ten New York City based professional performing artists in a creative collaboration led by Artistic Director Chriselle Tidrick and advised by Toni Taylor. The artists are unified by a theme?the human struggle to meet and form relationships contrasted by the inevitability of finding ourselves essentially isolated. A tango milonga scene opens the evening and reappears throughout, threading the various elements together, with dancers meeting and parting, entering and exiting.
Seeking is action-packed and appropriate for all ages, featuring dance, acrobatics, stilt and aerial work.

Please contact Above and Beyond Dance if you are interested in bringing Seeking to your theater. DVDs are available upon request.

For Carousel

"….the anguished and touching Carousel Ballet, danced beautifully by Louise Bigelow (Emily Vartanian), the daughter, as the spirit of her father looks on."
-Pat Craig, Contra Costa Times

"It is difficult to single out other performances, but I must at least mention Emily Vartanian, who plays Billy's daughter. She and dancer James Koponen deliver one of the most memorable 'deserted Amusement Park ballet' numbers that I have ever seen. They are simply terrific dancers and actors!"
-Charles Jarrett, Rossmoor News

For South Pacific

Emily Vartanian does a good job as Ensign Nellie Forbush….she shines in "Honey Bun," the big song-and-dance number that makes good use of her musical comedy skills, and is genuinely moving when she learns 'her Frenchman' and Cable are in danger from a Japanese attack.
-Catherine Schutz, Oakland Tribune

"Vivacious"
-Tom Billings, Alameda Journal

For Fiddler on the Roof

"Vartanian particularly shines in the second act when she falls to her knees…..Her horrified, heart-wrenching screams once her father declares her dead to the family provide the most chilling emotional moments of the night."
-Christina Englebrecht, Contra Costa Times

"One of the shows two great new talent discoveries is Emily Vartanian….[as] Chava. Her full package of extraordinary gifts - and extremely accomplished dancer who also acts and sings - was one of the show's outstanding highlights."
-Stewart Heller, Piedmont Post

Producer Reviews:

"But during the final few rehearsals before opening night, the vibe around the dancers of WAC SMASH!, a student-created undergraduate showcase, is one of professional cool."
